Certified Kentucky Paralegal (CKP) Examination

The CKP Exam, which is based on the Kentucky Paralegal Association's (KPA) Paralegal Professional Standards of Conduct, the Kentucky Rules of Professional Conduct, and general principles of business and legal ethical conduct, is offered to eligible paralegals seeking CKP status. The exam is administered a minimum of two times annually. Eligibility and ongoing certification requirements are detailed in the KPA's Professional Standards and Certification Program Policy.

Applying for the Exam

  • Registration Fee: $100.00, by check or money order made payable to Certified Kentucky Paralegal Program, Inc. (CKPP, Inc.) 
  • Application must be submitted in typewritten form.
  • The Application, registration fee, and all required supporting documentation must be mailed to the address below. Do not send via Certified Mail. Our address is unable to accept certified mail. Any mail sent certified will be returned to sender.

  • Postmark Date: Applications are deemed received as of the postmark date. 
  • Review of Application: Applications are reviewed by the KPA Certification Committee (KPACC). Applicants can expect a response to their application within 2-4 weeks of the post-mark date. Response will be sent via email to the email address provided on the application.  
Preparing for the Exam
  • Study materials are provided at no charge and can be found here.

Taking the Exam

  • Time allowed to complete the exam: Two (2) hours 
  • Style of Exam: 40 true/false or multiple-choice questions on the subject of Ethics 
  • Exam Material: 
    • Questions on the exam are permutated from the study material documents.
    • It is important that candidates read all study guide material provided in preparation for the examination.
  • Passing Score: A minimum passing score of 70% is required to earn the Certified Kentucky Paralegal credential.
